Advantages and disadvantages of cycloconverter

Advantages and disadvantages of cycloconverter: Advantages

1. The cycloconverter is a single-stage converter therefore its efficiency is very high.
2. The cycloconverter operates online commutation(except step up cycloconverter) therefore extra force commutation components are not required.
3. The power transfer in the cycloconverter is possible from supply to load and vice versa at any power factor.
4. The cycloconverter generates a high-quality sinusoidal waveform for low output frequency whereas the static inverter generates a square waveform for low output frequency(<10Hz).

Advantages and disadvantages of cycloconverter: Disadvantages

1.  The power factor of the cycloconverter becomes low for low output voltage.
2. The frequency can't increase from the main supply frequency.
3. Frequency decrease only integer multiple of supply frequency ( example: f/2,f/3,f/4...possible but f/2.5 is not possible)

সাইক্লোকনভার্টারের সুবিধা এবং অসুবিধা

সাইক্লোকনভার্টারের সুবিধা:

1.  সাইক্লোকনভার্টার একটি একক-পর্যায় রূপান্তরকারী তাই এর কার্যকারিতা খুব বেশি।
2. সাইক্লোকনভার্টার লাইন কমুটেশনে (স্টেপ আপ সাইক্লোকনভার্টার ব্যতীত) কাজ করে তাই অতিরিক্ত ফোর্স কমুটেশন উপাদানগুলির প্রয়োজন হয় না।
3. সাইক্লোকনভার্টারের মাধ্যমে যে কোনও পাওয়ার ফ্যাক্টারে পাওয়ার সাপ্লাই থেকে লোড অথবা লোড থেকে সাপ্লাই এ ট্রান্সফার করা সম্ভব।
4. সাইক্লোকনভার্টার কম আউটপুট ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি জন্য একটি উচ্চ মানের সাইনোসয়েডাল ওয়েভফর্ম জেনারেট করে যেখানে স্ট্যাটিক ইনভার্টর কম আউটপুট ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি (<10Hz) এর জন্য স্কোয়ার ওয়েভফর্ম তৈরি করে।

 

সাইক্লোকনভার্টারের অসুবিধা

1. সাইক্লোকনভার্টারের পাওয়ার ফ্যাক্টর কম আউটপুট ভোল্টেজের জন্য কম হয়ে যায়।
2. প্রধান সাপ্লাই ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি থেকে ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি বেশি হতে পারে না।
3.  ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি হ্রাস কেবল সাপ্লাই ফ্রিকোয়েন্সিয়ের পূর্ণসংখ্যার গুণিতক আকারে হয় (উদাহরণ: f/2,f/3,f/4...সম্ভব কিন্তু  f/2.5 সম্ভব নয় )
