VLSI

Very-Large-Scale Integration(VLSI) is the process of creating an integrated circuit(IC) by accumulating thousands of transistors into a single chip.

Advantages of VLSI

1. Less area/volume and therefore compactness.
2. Less power consumption.
3. Higher reliability, mainly due to improved on-chip interconnects.
4. Less testing requirements at the system level.
5. Higher speed, because of significantly reduced interconnection length.
6. Significant cost savings.

Applications Of VLSI

1. VLSI is an implementation technology for electronic circuitry-analog or digital.
2. Microcontrollers.
3. Microprocessors.
4. Memory-DRAM/SRAM.
5. Special purpose processors-ASICS (CD players DSP applications).
